These are original compositions and arrangements I have made open to the public so that students, professionals and educators looking for material to improve their community outreach can be better equipped and supported. Most music is arranged for the level of a talented high school group or above.
90’s toons tunes ~ jazz band medley
A collection of nine manipulated transcriptions of popular cartoon theme songs from the 1990’s, arranged for jazz big band. Woodwinds require use of doubles & brass includes use of mutes. Some tunes are extended with backgrounds & opportunities for soloists or repeats. Hear a live reading here.
epistemology ~ classical cello
The first movement of an original composition for cello and trombone with small jazz orchestra. The cello prelude sets the modal foundation for part two using implied chord changes within the solo melody.
Holiday saxtet ~ sax quartet
Brief saxophone quartet arrangements of public domain Christmas songs. Written with opportunities for saxophone sections to practice their musicianship in a fun & balanced selection of styles & techniques. Soon to include an accompanying educational booklet.
Super Mario Brothers ~ sax quartet
Three selections transcribed from the original Super Mario Brothers video game, arranged for SATB saxophone quartet. Written using exported MIDI information to assist in mimicking in-game sound effects. Hear a live performance here.
1960’s pop & Gershwin ~ trio medley
A medley of jazz trio rhythm section reductions, arranged as support for vocal or melodic instrument features. Form & arrangements mimic the recordings of Steve Lawrence & Eydie Gorme. Can be adapted for unaccompanied jazz trio. Total performance time around 15min.
songs 2 lern ~ lyrical Jazz
Music and lyrics to three original jazz songs in lead sheet form written for voice & backing accompaniment. Also suitable for traditional jazz improvisation performances & RealBook-style jam sessions.
